The 2020 sessions
Experiential Design Workshop
This is an in-demand session on design thinking! Not only will you learn the basics of design thinking in this highly interactive session – you will apply them in real time to create something that will be incorporated into the un-networking reception. These principles can take your event from average to extraordinary while working within any budget. This session is capped at 25 people to maintain a high-quality experience. Participants in this session must commit to attend the un-networking session as you will need to be there to help execute your designed experience!
Contract Negotiation Workshop
This panel session is a one-stop shop for all things contract! With an event planner, a venue representative, and a lawyer – this session will examine contracts for multiple viewpoints. Learn what to look for, what to try and negotiate, and current contract trends in this session! This session will start with a one-hour panel and then will break into small group/one-on-one sessions to be able to examine your own contracts! BYOC!
Interactive In-Depth Sessions
Food and Beverage Session
Although broadly labeled, this session will get into the specifics of what you need to know! Through several pre-event surveys, over forty people told us what they wanted in this session – to include creative menu selections and displays, handling dietary requests, how to plan what food/beverage and how much based on your groups demographics, what goes over well in our market, and MUCH more! Tasos has seen all of these requests and is going to serve it up!
We asked in our first pre-event survey what our members wanted to learn about and they told us technology. We asked in our second pre-event survey what aspects and we received a generic list. We asked in our third pre-event survey for more specifics and the results were split almost 50/50 in terms of hardware and software. Therefore, we are giving you what you want! Half of this session will discuss the basics of audio/visual hardware and where to get the biggest bang for your buck and half of this session will discuss event software what we are seeing in the industry currently. We have all heard that there is no such thing as a stupid question and we frequently find that there are lots of questions surrounding technology. Don’t be shy and ask our session experts!
Event Marketing Session
Marketing seems to be the biggest buzzword in Nebraska since the new state tourism slogan became “Honestly, it’s not for everyone.” As more events fight for the same slice of attendees, and as corporations are diving into offering publicly available education that traditionally was covered by associations exclusively, how can you make your organization and event stick out in an overwhelming sea of marketing materials? This session will give you tips and tricks on exactly how to do that!
Current and Future Trends Session
You asked and we delivered! Our number one most sought after session according to membership surveys was current and future trends, specifically looking at unique layouts/venues and ecofriendly strategies. While you experience quite a unique layout in our Lincoln market today during the conference, come learn more about what is going on at a national and international scale that will be in our market soon! This session will discuss unique layouts/venues, ecofriendly strategies, and more current and future trends that should be on your radar!
Event Logistics 101
When we first put this event together, it was only two tracks and this was not one of them! After listening to feedback from our membership – this track was added and we brought in an expert facilitator to spend the day with us. The concept of this track is that if you were to sit in the sessions all day – you would learn how to plan an event from start to finish. You will start in the morning creating an event, or with an event in mind, and then you will go through the planning process from setting SMART objectives all the way to debrief and evaluation. This day is intended to flow naturally, so not all times will be down to the minute. However, we wanted to give all attendees the option to just pop in for a session or two that peaked their interest and therefore categories are listed on the schedule. This track will all be run by the same facilitator who is tentatively planning on 10-15 minutes’ delivery of the information, 15-20 minutes’ application, and 15 minutes share out and feedback for each of the listed topics. Please note: this track is best for those who are not a planner and interested in planning, early career planners, and students.
